In June, the new B-K cultural venue will open in the iconic building at Frihamnen, known as the Banan Company Building or simply the Banan Temple.
The listed building is now being renovated to become Stockholm's largest cultural venue for concerts, festivals, clubs and events with a capacity to house 3,750 people at the same time. Kulturarenor, which already operates Trädgården, Fållan, Färgfabriken Evenemang, Eden and Under Bron in Stockholm, is behind the initiative.
- The building is a landmark in Frihamnen, one of the first buildings to be erected on the site. We feel honored to manage the heritage, to be part of the transformation of the area and to create a cultural destination for Stockholm. The bananas go out and the culture goes in," says Martin Lagerberg, CEO and initiator in a press release.
The opening is planned for June, but the organization does not yet want to reveal any upcoming events. B-K's activities will revolve around progressive culture with a focus on live music and clubs. The organizers believe it will be a catalyst in Frihamnen's transformation from a logistics hub to a place filled with culture, food, drink and life.
