Distriktfem - the start of the new cultural initiative in Slakthusområdet

At the end of April, the permanent premises of the cultural and concert venue Fållan will open in the Slakthus area. At the same time, the collaboration with Fållan will be expanded to include several new venues for music, culture, art, food and drink - an initiative known as Distriktfem. The initiative is part of Atrium Ljungberg's long-term strategy for culture and live venues in the Slakthus area.

DISTRIKTFEM

District Five comprises a total of nine different concepts in the old Slakthushallarna, with capacities ranging from 50 to 3000 people. First to open is Fållanthe heart of the initiative and Stockholm's new live stage with room for 2000 visitors, as well as LillaFållan, a more intimate club venue, and Fållans Bakficka, a cozy bar. The district also includes the northern part of Förbindelsehallen and Fållan Park, an outdoor courtyard with space for food and gigs in the afternoon sun. Other concepts that fit into District Five will be released continuously during the year.

The heart of the Slakthus area

Distriktfem is located in the old Slakthushallarna, which has now been carefully renovated and forms the heart of the Slakthus area's investment in food, culture and experiences. In 2023, Hus 26 in Slakthushallarna was established as a new destination in Stockholm, with restaurants such as Solen, Bar Montan, Afrika as well as the listening bar Hosoi and the coffee roastery Stockholm Roast. Fållan and Distriktfem further strengthen the site and mark the start of a new era in Stockholm's cultural life.

In total, Distriktfem covers just over 3,200 square meters in Slakthushallarna.

- "It is inspiring to see how Stockholm's new cultural and creative center is emerging in the Slakthus area and we are very pleased that Distriktfem and Nya Fållan are finally opening in permanent premises. A vibrant cultural, restaurant and nightlife scene is also important for the companies in design, tech, fashion and music that want to move to the area," says Maria Hammarsten, business development manager for urban innovation at Atrium Ljungberg.

- It feels great to finally be able to open the doors to our new home in Slakthusområdet. With Distriktfem, we want to help redraw the city's cultural landscape by adding to the cultural life that already exists in the area and further developing Stockholm's cultural life outside the city center. Fållan will be a tribute to music, while the smaller premises invite to new meetings and more intimate clubs. We look forward to building on the collaboration with Atrium Ljungberg and to managing the Slakthus area's food and cultural heritage together," says Thea Mårdbrant, CEO of Fållan.

- As in many other international reference areas, which have brought together the best companies in creative industries, cultural presence is important. It is a key factor in talent attraction and creates a climate for inspiration, where a diversity of expressions provides space for new ideas," concludes Maria Hammarsten.
